this is the "statesman"...he's doing the trail in sections, one state at a time.
in 3 years he'll finish them all at the age of 72.
this is "orange bear" from belgium.
this is caitano...a year and a half wolfhound/akita mix...who carries his own weight!
next to sabi is "dude," caitano's papa...from philadelphia.

now caters to the smelly hikers!! yippeeee!!

sometimes they'll be every 5 miles or so, othertimes much further apart.
we've stayed in these about 5 times, but at this time of year, they are quite full and
very buggy! we like our tent!
a few weeks back, we were huddled in a shelter like this when a huge thunder and lightning storm passed through. we stayed up for probably an hour just trying to photograph the lightning through the trees.

Thank you for entertaining us with the pictures and prose, Becky and Glen! Just glad you are safe and well. You take great pictures. I especially like the vultures on the powerline tower, reminds me of the condor you painted for me which is on the wall of my office. What kind of a bug is that on Glen's wrist?

Just a quick update on this "epic" journey that Becky and Glen are on. Becky told me it was okay for me to keep you all updated even though of course I know you would rather hear from Becky and Glen. They spent the last 2 days at Delaware Gap, PA refueling (food, rest, etc.)before returning to their march northward. They should be in New Jersey now as Becky told me when she last called me that they were only a mile from there. They tried to blog and upload pictures but Delaware Gap is a small town and the computer they were using at the city library would not accommodate the procedure. I am so proud of this outstanding daughter of mine; she is a treasure!

Glen and Becky, I looked at all of your latest pictures from NJ, thanks. But you or Glen mentioned John Denver and I expected him to be playing and singing "New Jersey High" in the background.
